Approving & Denying Posts
How to use the manager dashboard to review pending posts, make edits, schedule them for later, or publish immediately.
1. Getting Notified
When a stylist submits a photo and approves their caption, MostlyPostly automatically sends you an SMS notification — typically something like: "A new post from [Stylist Name] is waiting for your review."
The notification includes a direct link to your dashboard. You can also log in at any time at app.mostlypostly.com/manager/login. If you've previously logged in on this device, you may still be logged in — just navigate to the dashboard directly.
You can log in with:
- →One-time SMS link — a login link is texted to your phone number. No password needed. Valid for 7 days.
- →Email + password — use the credentials you set during onboarding. Forgot your password? Use the "Forgot Password" link to receive a reset link via SMS.
2. The Approval Dashboard
Your manager dashboard shows all posts organized by status. Posts waiting for your approval appear at the top under Pending Approval.
Each post card displays:
- →The photo the stylist submitted
- →The AI-generated caption draft (or edited caption if the stylist modified it)
- →The stylist's name
- →The post type (standard post, before/after, availability, or promotion)
- →Action buttons: Approve, Post Now, and Deny
3. Approving a Post
Click Approve to add the post to your publishing queue. The post will be scheduled based on your salon's posting rules — specifically your defined posting window (e.g., 9:00 AM–8:00 PM) and the minimum and maximum spacing between posts.
MostlyPostly automatically picks the next available slot that respects these rules. You don't need to set a specific time manually.
Pro Tip
Approve posts throughout the day as they come in. The scheduler fills in available time slots automatically, so you'll never accidentally post twice in a row or publish outside your preferred hours.
4. Editing a Post Before Approving
You can modify the caption before it goes live. On the post card, click the caption text to make it editable. Make your changes directly in the field, then click Approve — your edited version will be used.
Common edits managers make before approving:
- →Adding a specific product name or technique that the AI didn't mention
- →Adjusting tone or language to better match brand voice
- →Updating hashtags for a seasonal promotion or event
- →Removing anything that feels off-brand before it goes live
5. Denying a Post
Click Deny to remove the post from the queue. The post will be marked as denied and will not be published. The stylist is not automatically notified — if you'd like to let them know why, follow up with them directly.
Common reasons to deny a post:
- →Photo quality isn't up to the salon's standard
- →Duplicate or very similar post already in the queue
- →Content doesn't fit the current brand or campaign direction
6. Post Now
If you want a post to go live immediately instead of waiting in the schedule, click Post Now. This bypasses the normal scheduling queue and publishes to Facebook and Instagram right away.
Use Post Now for:
- →Time-sensitive content (flash sales, last-minute openings)
- →Posts that should go up before the next scheduled slot opens
- →Testing that your Facebook and Instagram connections are working
7. Auto-Publish Setting
If you'd prefer not to manually approve every post, you can enable Auto-Publish in Admin → Settings. With auto-publish on, posts go directly from stylist approval into the scheduling queue — no manager review required.
Auto-publish is best for established teams where you fully trust every stylist's judgment on what to post. If you're onboarding new stylists or running a highly branded salon, keeping manager approval on gives you an important quality checkpoint.
Pro Tip
You can run in a hybrid mode — keep manager approval on but use the dashboard's quick-approve flow to review posts in batches during your morning or lunch break. Most approvals take less than 10 seconds per post.
