How to Submit a Post via Text

Everything a stylist needs to know to start submitting posts — from texting a photo to approving the caption — with no app download required.

1. No App Needed

You do not need to download anything. MostlyPostly works through your phone's regular text messaging app — the same one you already use every day.

Your salon owner or manager will give you a dedicated phone number — this is your salon's MostlyPostly number. Save it in your contacts under something easy to remember, like "Salon Posts" or your salon's name.

Pro Tip

Save the salon number with a recognizable name in your contacts so it's always easy to find. You'll come back to it often.

2. Step by Step: Sending Your Photo

Submitting a post is as simple as sending a text. Here's exactly what to do:

  1. 1

    Open your Messages app

Start a new message or find your existing conversation with your salon's MostlyPostly number.

  2. 2

    Attach a photo

Tap the photo icon to choose from your camera roll, or take a new photo right from the message. You can attach more than one photo in a single message for before/after posts.

  3. 3

    Hit send

That's it. You don't need to include any caption text — the AI takes it from there. If you'd like to add context (like "this is a balayage on fine hair"), you can type a short note with the photo and the AI will factor it in.

3. What You'll Receive Back

Within about 30 seconds, you'll receive an automated text reply with an AI-generated caption draft. It's written in your salon's brand voice and typically includes:

The caption is a draft — you always have a chance to review and change it before anything gets posted.

4. Reviewing Your Caption

After you receive the caption preview, you have three options. Reply with one of these keywords:

APPROVE

Sends the post to your manager for final review (or directly to the publishing queue if your salon has auto-publish turned on). Nothing goes live without this step.

EDIT [your new caption]

Replaces the AI caption with your own words entirely. For example: EDIT Fresh lived-in color by Mia — book at the link in bio!

REDO [direction]

Asks the AI to rewrite the caption with your feedback, while staying on-brand. For example: REDO make it more fun and mention balayage on fine hair. You'll receive a new draft to review.

Pro Tip

Use REDO whenever the caption is close but not quite right. Give the AI specific direction — like the service name, the technique used, or the vibe you want — and the next draft will be much more on point.

5. After You Approve

Once you reply APPROVE, here's what happens next:

You'll receive a confirmation text when your post has been published. Your photo will appear on the salon's Facebook and Instagram pages automatically.

6. Tips for Great Photos

The AI can only work with what it sees. Better photos lead to better captions and stronger engagement. Keep these in mind:

Good to Know

"You don't need perfect lighting. You need a photo that shows real work on a real person."

Real Photos. Real Results.

Some of the most engaging salon content is captured right in the chair — fresh color, a great cut, a client who loves their look — snapped the moment the service is done. Authentic in-the-moment photos consistently outperform polished studio shots because they feel real.

MostlyPostly is designed for both the raw in-chair capture and the carefully composed portfolio shot. Great content is about consistency and authenticity, not perfection. Send what you've got — the AI will handle the rest.
