Reordering Your Post Queue

How to drag and drop your approved scheduled posts into a new order — without changing the times they go live.

Overview

The Post Queue gives you a visual, drag-and-drop view of every approved post waiting to be published. You can rearrange the order posts go out — for example, moving a seasonal promotion ahead of a standard hair photo — without touching any of the scheduled times.

This is useful when you have several posts queued and want to control which content goes out first — especially before a sale, event, or holiday weekend. Your posting schedule stays exactly as you configured it; only the sequence changes.

How It Works

Think of it like shuffling a deck of cards without changing the times they're dealt. Your posting schedule has a set of time slots — say, Tuesday at 10am, Wednesday at 2pm, Thursday at 11am. Each approved post occupies one of those slots.

When you drag a post to a new position in the queue, MostlyPostly reassigns the existing time slots to match the new order. If you move a post from position 3 to position 1, it now takes the earliest available time slot. The other posts shift down. No new times are created and none are removed — just redistributed.

Good to know

Only posts with a scheduled time (status: approved and waiting to publish) appear in the queue. Drafts, pending-approval posts, and already-published posts are not shown here.

Step-by-Step

Here's how to reorder your upcoming posts:

  1. 1

Open the Post Queue from the sidebar

Log into your manager dashboard and click Post Queue in the left sidebar — it's the second item, just below Dashboard.

  2. 2

Review your approved posts in schedule order

All approved posts with a scheduled time appear as cards, sorted chronologically. Each card shows a thumbnail, post type badge (e.g. Standard, Promotion), stylist name, a caption preview, and the current scheduled time.

  3. 3

Drag a post card to its new position

Click and hold the drag handle (the grip icon on the left edge of each card), then drag it up or down to the position you want. The other cards shift to make room as you drag.

  4. 4

    The new order saves automatically

After you drop the card into place, the queue saves the new order within half a second. No button to click. The scheduled times displayed on each card update immediately to reflect the reassignment.

  5. 5

    Confirm the times look right

Review the updated times on each card to make sure the order is what you intended. The post at position 1 will go out at the earliest time slot, position 2 at the next, and so on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does reordering change my posting times?

No. Reordering only changes which post goes in which time slot — the slots themselves stay exactly as your scheduler is configured. Your posting window, spacing rules, and frequency settings are all untouched.

Can I reorder posts that are already published?

No. The Post Queue only shows posts that are approved and waiting to be published. Once a post has gone live, it moves to your post history and can no longer be reordered.

What if I only have one scheduled post?

There's nothing to reorder with a single post — reordering requires at least two approved scheduled posts. Submit more content to grow your queue, then you can rearrange the sequence.
